Every state has their own requirements for homeschooling.

Every state has their own requirements for homeschooling.  I’m in Pennsylvania, which is thought to be one of the more strict states.  I’ve homeschooled here for 15 years and have never had any trouble.  I guess it’s just what you get used to.  In Pennsylvania documents are required to be filed with your home district each year at the beginning and end of the school year.  You are also required to have an evaluator sign off on your work for the year.  I am an evaluator and most of my families make small portfolios of work samples that show growth in their subjects and whatever else the students want to show me at the end of the year.  It’s a painless process, really.  I love seeing everyone’s folders and hearing about their successes and challenges from the year.
